Monte Urgull is the forested hill at the eastern end of La Concha Bay — topped by the Castillo de la Mota and the Cristo de la Mota statue, accessible by walking paths through the forest, and providing panoramic views of La Concha beach, the old town, and Monte Igueldo across the bay. The hill has been fortified since the 12th century and was the site of multiple sieges during the Napoleonic and Carlist wars.
